Harefield woman Mandy Lifeboats has taken great delight at being the first person to post on FaceBook that it had snowed in the village. As a thin layer of slush appeared overnight Mandy posted on the popular Facebook page Harefield Up Your Arse “It’s snowing!” followed by regular standards such as “Does anyone know if the 347 is running?”and “Is the Co Op open?”

Mandy, 53, from round Ash Grove, told our reporter Gladys Friday “It’s important to be first with the snow posts just in case people can’t see out their windows. And anyway, that bitch Mrs Fannybatter from number twenty two is usually first so I got one over on her at last!”

DJ Ray Pond on the Harefield Hospital Radio Cost Cutter Breakfast Show was second with the news, warning villagers that ‘it’s a bit slippy on Church Hill’ and ‘mind how you go down Park Lane’ before he played Frosty The Snowman. Caller Pauline Pet the Geordie phoned in to say “Haddaway man, ye call that snow? That’s not snow, you should see it where I come from, back yem we have ten foot snow drifts, it gets so cauld ye have to wear knickers under yer mini skirt pet!”
